Centre Roll® Divider Curtain

A proven QUED® design, the Centre Roll® provides an economical, cable‑free solution that is considered one of the most effective electric dividers in the market. The mid‑height drive tube integrates the motor, gears, and brake, retracting both panels evenly and avoiding the high‑stress points typical of cable‑lift folds. The smooth finish enhances safety and appearance, and the system has been field‑proven for years of service in schools, universities, and community centres.

Challenge

Deliver an electric divider curtain that installs easily, operates quickly, and keeps users safe with no exposed lift cables.

Solution

The QUED® Centre Roll® uses a mid‑height extruded aluminum drive tube with an internal tubular motor to roll the upper and lower panels together. With high‑speed operation around 8.5 m/min (28 ft/min) and no exposed cable lift lines, facilities gain faster changeovers and a clean, reliable system.

The Curtain

The divider consists of upper and lower sections joined at mid‑height to an exposed anodized aluminum tube specifically designed to accept the panels and the internal tubular motor. The curtain rises to within about 254 mm (10 in) of the supports, and c can be adapted to easily install on existing structure without complicated hardware.. The smooth, cable‑free design reduces snag risks.

The Hardware

The extruded aluminum drive tube houses the motor, gears, limit switches, and electric brake.  No cable drum stacks above the curtain minimizes components overhead allowing for high clearance height.  The torque reaction of the motor can be though a carriage on a fixed track or by a torque arm designed to eliminate wall connections.

The Operation

To raise the curtain, the centre tube rotates and rolls the upper and lower sections simultaneously. The curtain lies flat as it rolls with no highly stressed areas, and operation is barely audible. Control is via a spring‑loaded key switch in a steel enclosure. Some larger curtains may require a synchronized secondary motor.  When the size demands too much for this lightweight system, the QUED® XL Centre Roll® is available with larger tube and motor size capacity.
